ShawAttack is the premier youth basketball camp in the DFW Metroplex. Our program is geared towards mentally and physically developing the skill set your child needs to become a more effective ball player. Our mission is "Helping kids shoot for their goals". By helping our campers master the fundamentals of basketball, they will leave camp with the confidence they can achieve any goal they set out to accomplish. Hard work, discipline, goal setting, leadership, teamwork, and character or just some of the qualities we wish to instill in our campers. Our team consists of highly accomplished and inspiring leaders that have a wealth of knowledge about not only the game but what it takes to achieve life goals.
Demetric Shaw is a graduate of Dunbar High School located in Fort Worth, TX. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Med/BioChemistry from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. In addition to receiving honors such as MAC Conference 2-Time Defensive Player of the Year, Shaw was also a member of the Academic All-District IV First Team (high school) and the Academic All-MAC Team (college). Shaw was on the Dean's List his last 3 years at Kent State and The NCAA is currently holding a post-graduate scholarship in his name should he ever decide to enroll in medical school.
After graduating from college, Shaw went on to have an immensely successful career as a professional basketball player overseas. While overseas, Shaw helped direct numerous basketball camps geared towards exposing kids to the sport. After a 9 year professional basketball career, Shaw returned to his hometown and is now a teacher/coach in White Settlement ISD. He is also a Math tutor at the local YMCA. During the summers, Shaw routinely participates in top area camps including TCU Horned Frogs and UTA Mavs basketball programs. He currently mentors several college basketball students and plays an active role in ensuring they are equipped with the tools they need to succeed in the sport and life in general. He is also a coach for his daughter Deja's track team, the heralded Xpress Track Club of Fort Worth,TX.

A native of Fort Worth, "Coach K" attended Arlington Heights High School & now works as a gym coach south of Fort Worth schools. Staying motivated to help, he takes time out of his day to ensure the health & well-being of the students are first-rate priorities. This caring coach divides his time even after school with students through intramural sports such as basketball, football & volleyball, as well as mentoring & tutoring kids who need help. His helping hand approach has heralded him high regard among instructors on his teaching staff. So it is no surprise that students enjoy the time Coach K uses to give back to them.
A Nebraska native, Stephanie led Omaha North High School to the only state championship in school history in 1998. In 2000, she attended Iowa Western Junior College and played an essential role in her team finishing 5th in the nation. She transferred to TCU in 2002, where her Horned Frogs team made the NCAA tournament every year she was there. After finishing from TCU, Faulkner played professionally overseas in Europe and Africa. Upon returning to the States, she attained her teaching certificate and currently teaches 5th Grade math for FWISD, while coaching spring and summer basketball. Stephanie has an unwavering love for the game and truly loves being able to coach and give back to young athletes.
Mrs. Sheila Shaw
Every company has a person that makes things work. If that company is lucky enough it has a do-it-all leader who can take charge & manage the paperwork, funds, concessions, parents, awards & many other things covered by Mrs. Shaw. Mother to founder Demetric Shaw & wife of Coach Pops, this lady is the glue that makes our organization function. An attentive restaurant sales manager by night, Mrs. Shaw is a ball of energy by day for our camps & clinics, managing all business affairs effortlessly through her great multi-tasking ability, incredible personality & charm. A joy to be around, the spirit of this great woman exudes great confidence & openness which eases the stress of any day. Her invaluable labor that she provides to the team cannot be quantified as she has one philosophy, "Make it happen".
Jason Pounds is a graduate of Fort Worth Western Hills High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree In Economics and Exercise and Sports Studies from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. He also holds a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. For Western Hills, Pounds was a First Team All-District selection for the Cougars, earning the honor in District 7-5A. Jason has coached basketball for 12 years in Mansfield and Fort Worth ISD. He loves the game of basketball, helps kids when possible and continues to play competitively to this day.
A Fort Worth native of Eastern Hills High School & graduate of Texas Wesleyan University, "Coach Pops" has been a winner all his life. In college, as an All NAIA District Selection, All-Conference player & one of the top 10 scorers in Texas Wesleyan Rams history, it is no wonder that this coach knows how to find a way to show our youth ways to excel. Father & mentor of ShawAttack founder Demetric Shaw Jr., Coach Pops has a wealth of knowledge that has been steadily a useful treasure in preparing kids for life through the lesson of understanding themselves. A character-building specialist, Coach Pops thrives on guiding kids in the right direction who may have made past mistakes. Coach also works full time as teacher & is a certified alternative instructor to second chance youths who have been troubled in school due to criminal backgrounds, mental issues, emotional instability & even abandonment. His talent as a mentor has garnered him prestíge among his peers as a life changer as he leads students with a "never give up" approach. The veteran of our group, Coach Pops leads by example & we are ever so proud to call this great man one of our own.
Mike Byars-Dawson graduated from Dunbar High School where he earned multiple accolades including Fort Worth Star Telegram's Tarrant County Player of the Year, 1st Team Class 5A All-State, and All-Region honors his senior year. After being heavily recruited, Byars-Dawson signed with the University of Miami where he was apart of the starting lineup for two seasons. He then transferred to Northwestern St. where he was All-Conference Newcomer of the Year, All-Conference Tournament MVP, All-Conference 1st Team, and was recently added to the college's prestigious All-Century Team. Professionally, Byars-Dawson has worked out with numerous NBA teams and had a successful career playing overseas for many years. Byars-Dawson now coaches and trains children of all ages in basketball, helping them to strengthen their game through agility, endurance, ball handling and skill work with defensive and offensive principles.
Ms. Sanita Blake
One of the best business minds anyone could find, Ms. Blake is always on her A-game when it comes to organization. This dynamo of a lady added a new spark to the ShawAttack flame that is spreading like fire. This fast-counting, fast-moving certified paralegal handles any complicated situations with the greatest ease. Her business approach to our "never wait to be great" motto helps propel our clinics ahead. Enjoying the atmosphere of kids learning during camp, she enjoys overseeing the smiles that we all create during our sessions & thinking of creative avenues & possibilities to help the kids explode with excitement. Ms. Blake is a beautiful lady inside & out, & her go-get-it mentality is definitely contageous.
